Rotary Kids Triathlon

The 1st Annual Rotary Kids Triathlon will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 – a fun and safe, short course, Swim-Bike-Run event. The race will allow elementary and middle school children between the ages of 6 – 13 to participate in a multisport youth event geared for both 1st time triathletes and seasoned competitive triathletes. The event is taking place at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex/Gifford Aquatic Center in Vero Beach.

NO CHILD WILL BE TURNED AWAY for any reason – be it cost, disability, skill level or lack of equipment. Bicycles will be professionally tested and fitted prior to the event as a public service by our locally owned Alan’s Bicycle Center. We already have at least 135 children registered and committed, and, on average, statistics prove that at least 4-5 parents/guardians/relatives/friends/volunteers/participants typically also attend this kind of event as spectators.

Value Proposition: YOUTH
Our Rotary Kids Triathlon objectives are to:
(i) empower youth from all Walks of Life,
(ii) provide them with Equitable Access,
(iii) promote an Active and Healthy Lifestyle – by getting the kids to put down their phones/video games, thereby improving their physical/mental well-being as well as their relationships/friendships and social skills, and
(iv) offer this event as a Challenge/Responsibility that positively impacts their Courage and Resolve.
> ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO BACK INTO THE COMMUNITY FOR YOUTH PROGRAMS ONLY

Additional Program Highlights:
> Kids who are novice or non-swimmers can walk in the heated Gifford pool, or have a friend or relative complete the swim segment within a relay team (i.e., there is no reason for any one child not to participate!)
> For the nominal entry fee of $15 (scholarships available to make this free for those in need), each child will receive a t-shirt, swim towel and cap, backpack filled with goodies and for storing their equipment, beautiful Finisher Medal, and a really cool trophy if they place 1st, 2nd or 3rd for their age – and there will be plenty of water available during the event along with healthy snacks after the kids complete the course!
> All local non-profit vendors will have free spaces during the event, with all profits going to the vendors (i.e., The Treasure Coast Girls Coalition is an example of Rotary’s community support, and they will be using their food truck as an income source and as a business model for the girls in their program, ages 9-18)
> The County has designated Dec. 2 as a Family Community Day at the Victor Hart Sr. Complex, allowing all youth participants, as well as their families and friends, to swim for free for the rest of the day at the Gifford Aquatic Center

This event is shaping up to be the most exciting event for children in Indian River County and along the Treasure Coast!
